Winter 2017-2018

Dear Bloomingdale Families,
It is hard to believe the Holidays are here already.   This will bring a very busy  time of learning and growing in Bloomingdale School.  Due to the many different activities during the month of December, there will be no parent lunch.  Parent Lunch will return in the new year on Friday, January 5, 2018.  On Friday, December 1st our first through fifth graders will attend a special holiday showing of movies at the Palace Theater in Lake Placid.  We thank the Clark Family for helping to make this possible. Your child will bring a note home about this soon with a permission slip.  In the evening of December 1st, it will be our annual family wreath making event sponsored by Marcelle Ingraham and Sue Pratt.  Please make sure you sign up for this event if your family is able to attend.  The Bloomingdale BLT will sponsor a hot dog and bake sale at ACE Hardware on Saturday, December 8 to support the many  activities they sponsor such as the wreath making event.  Please send in a bake good to sell and stop by that day to support our staff who has been doing this for many years.
A  Nutrition Magician will come to spread his magic on December 7th to our children in an assembly.  Adirondack Health  is sponsoring this grant and program with the help of Katie Laba  in  Petrova Elementary School.  Thank you to all who made this opportunity  possible for our children.  On December 8th,  Native American storyteller and author, Jim Bruhac will be here for a 2:00 assembly sponsored by the library through their Library Book Fair Funds.  Thank you to the Library.
Our Winter Show will be held on December 14th at 10:00 and 1:30.  Our students will highlight their achievements in music and art.  The snow date is December 15th.  Please try to come to the 10:00 show since the 1:30 is often overcrowded.  Our Holiday Bazaar  for students is on  Monday, November 18th.  Children will purchase gifts for their immediate family for 25 cents each.  The Parents Club is sponsoring this events.  Please bring in good used items(no stuffed animals) during the school day  to the office.  On December 20th, grades 3,4 and 5 will go to the LPCA to see the Electric Light Company.
After the Holidays, January will bring new exciting beginnings to the Bloomingdale School Community.  As I reflect on the Holidays,  I am grateful for the students, staff and parents I get to work with daily at our school.  I am wishing you and your families peace and joy.

Happy Holidays,
Trish Kenyon
